Just like Mario Paint, you didn't had any instruction in what to do, you were free to do whatever you want. And like Mario Paint, it will only appeal to some people. The bolded part is my only concern about the game, is it confirmed you can play Do, Re, Mi, etc ? If not, then I agree it will be too shallow.

My assumption is that's the most basic thing it could possibly be.  If you can't even play a scale then what the hell can you do?  But no, I can't say I've actually seen even that confirmed.

Unfortunately, that isn't the case.  The only thing you can do is adjust the volume, control when the note plays, and... something else, not sure.  Yushire put up a good link earlier:

Extremely limited, I know.  I'm still not totally sure where I stand on how much it'll sell, we haven't quite seen all the features yet.  From just what we've seen though, even at this stage it should be capable of a few million.

@yushire:  I'd love for a game like Wii Music to crush GTA4.  Wii Music is a creative idea nobody has tried yet, as opposed to GTA4 - another sequel, one that lacks innovation, and the developers just strive for realism as opposed to new ideas.  People will get bored of these low-risk, high budget sequels - we need something new to keep gaming alive and interesting.
