Oh I've seen this one before. This is what I mean by people buying into this stuff too much. The guy is speeking in a way that clearly ignores all other interests and goals of the respective companies and its not surprising as he seems to know nothing about video games.
Sony didn't "just" put in a blu-ray player so they can have a ridiculously expensive console and on top of this, lose tons of money on each consoles sale. They did this in hopes to win the format war(which they did).
This is what happens when outsiders try to generalize the gaming industry and forumers take them too seriously.
