As people have already pointed out, that order is valid from a casual gameplay perspective. Hell, I didn't even know competitive battling existed during the first two generations, so I just had blissful fun. However, I agree with the competitive battlers here that D/P is by far the best in multiplayer. Gamefreak really mastered the gameplay, adding many options for team building and strategy.

Something I find humorous is the gradual progression of Gyarados being one of, if not THE most useless pokemon in existence, to being one of the most powerful leads and overall pokemon in the standard metagame. Its stats never even changed...the changes in gameplay more or less caused that massive shift.

@ SmokedHostage of your list Electivire, Yanmega, and Tangrowth are actually quite interesting pokemon that add more to the game. Yanmega and Electivire have very interesting abilities, too. I don't know why you wouldn't like them. The other ones you listed I understand though (though Rhyperior's crazy stat distribution really makes me want to find a good strategy that incorporates it...).
