It's certainly better than II and I'm not entirely sure what the connection is to the original is, outside of a few similar chord progressions and the presence of instruments besides the usual guitar/bass/drums. They don't work in a cheesy chorus like Unforgiven II, though near the end of the song, "forgive me not" is said a few times. There's also a pretty kickass guitar solo right after that. All Nightmare Long would be my pick for the best song on the album and if I thought there was a safe way to do so, I'd love to host it just so people could get a taste of the album. |
I agree about Pitchfork. They're certainly a pretentious website. But I was just highlighting the Unforgiven part. I had no idea they made a third version. Oh well...at least the didn't make a Welcome Home Sanitarium II or a One II...that would be awkward.
