I haven't seen that press, but from what I've seen most people who want the Wii want it becuase they saw it at someone's house and played it. Most of them are surprised to discover that it's hard to find, and many of those people (casual people) give up and forget about it or commit their expendable income elsewhere.
If the Wii didn't have a limit, I'd guess the sales would maintain a rate signficiantly higher than the current rate.
