| ookaze said: It's funny as these games are always the best of the best as long as they are exclusive to the XB360. Eternal Sonata was the same, it was the best, it had very good reviews with 85 from Gamespot and 35/40 from Famitsu (Wow! It must be better than Tales Of Vesperia!). Now it's improved on PS3 and XB360 fans say Eternal Sonata is shit. Excuse me if I don't believe in Gamespot and Famitsu hyperbole (well, actually, I don't believe in reviews since years). Anyway, this may be a very good Tales Of, which I don't doubt, but it won't help the XB360 in Japan. What I see is that instead, XB360 just killed the game in Japan. Well, don't get me wrong, this is all Namco's fault. |
See, the thing about Eternal Sonata, and the recent decline in favor among Xbox 360 is:
More JRPGs came out on the X360 since Eternal Sonata, and we were able to stop kidding ourselves about the game. It's hard to judge next-gen JRPGs when all you have are Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, PSU, and Enchanted Arms.
Now we have Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, and the Atlus SRPGs....It allows for a more valid comparison.
Don't worry, Playstation 3 owners will get to buy ES soon and see exactly what the complaints are. It's an OK game (I'd give it a 7.75-8.0 thanks to the multiplayer), but when you can compare it to ToV and LO, it doesn't stack up very well.
@OP: Time will tell. Microsoft dropped the ball when it came to shipments, so it's hard to sale if ToV really will change the Xbox 360's patterns. Up till now, it has, but it's also been supply constrained.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
