Seeing the threads made for Disaster Day of Crisis being so close to release and we know nothing about it, along with threads on the Conduit and how it is overhyped, made me want to make a thread about:
Which is better, too little hype or too much hype? What is the "right" level of hype/info that should be unveiled on games before their release?
As this is a sales site, there is of course a sales side to this question. Hype --> Bigger 1st week sales. No Hype --> hoping for good word of mouth and thus, legs.
But are there other aspects (cult following for smaller "obscure" games, back lash on over hyped games like GTA4 is getting now or Halo series, etc...)? Is Nintendo trying something here with Disaster and a surprise release much earlier than anticipated (since its delay)? I personally am a fan of little hype and just scratching around for any minor detail you can find.
Oddly enough, I am way more tempted by Disaster then by Conduit. Maybe Nintendo is on to something.
Don't know where I am going with this but maybe someone here will have enlightening thoughts on the subject?
Elaine: I will never understand people
Jerry: They're the worst.
