MP8 isn't really a surprise. With Big W and JB-Hifi selling it for $20-30 below retail it has definitely been moving there (I was unable to get a copy the other day, but I'm in no hurry).
Cars is really odd. Perhaps you are right about it being on sale, but coming 3rd given how old it is strange.
It would be nice if GfK released the numbers on their site too.
