Mario Kart Wii sold 167,000 units last week. In a slow period of the year, months and months after release. Even with absolutely no holiday boost in sales, it will be over 10m in sales by the end of 2008.
Why shouldn't we think it will eventually pass Gran Turismo 3? (By the way, one of the two games was extensively bundled with hardware - and it wasn't Mario Kart Wii.)
