Well, I think 360 is about twice as popular and known as Xbox, and it certainly manage to expand the library and remove the stigma of a "shooter only" console, while at the same time cementing its brand name and viability.

Yes, I think the 360 was a resounding success despite the huge hardware problems that gimped the consoles popularity.

Nintendo, on the other hand, dwarfs any success the other brands have managed, and has become one of the largest companies and brands in the world.

i disagree...

...they've been that way from before the wii in my opinion. even when sony were dominating, nintendo were still a bigger brand now that i think of it.

In the gaming industry... yes... in the world (counting other industries)... not even close...

maybe...

anyway, microsoft may have been much more succesful this gen, but for some reason, i can't see them ever having that 'here to stay' status. i know a lot of people are going to disagree with me, and i accept that because it's only my opinion, but i really think the ms won't be seeing any better than third ever, if they don't come second this gen.

sony made HUGE mistakes this gen, and ms could have taken advantage, but somehow ms let sony get back on their feet. now sony have learnt from their mistakes and it's going to be hard to catch them off gaurd like that again.
