If representative this seems to suggest that going below the 200 dollar barrier isn't as important as anticipated by many. If so, it looks like it would have been better for Microsoft to simply scrap the arcade/core models. This to benefit the premium and elite models (and indirectly also PS3 cross platform game engine design), enabling developers to rely on harddrive caching for designing their games.

I think one factor why the Elite seems to be doing relatively well may be due to previous 360 hardware issues. For example a friend upgraded to an Elite due to hardware issues with his premium, hoping this model is better designed.
