Damn, these media pundits are worse than Scrooge on the night before Christmas. In fact, the Wii's hardware is far more powerful than the Gamecube. They simply made the design decision to put the console's horsepower into textures, instead of polygon counts. Game designers have a whole new palette of textures and tones to work with. Twilight Princess is just the beginning, you ain't seen nothing yet.

The moment I picked up the Wii controller for the first time and swung a tennis racket on Wii Sports, I realized the Wii was going to be a sensation. I still don't have words to express the sheer joy of that swing. You don't need to see every blade of grass on the field. You need to see the ball, and where your opponent is. Motion-controlled games need textures, not polygons.
