Yeah, the only thing I took from his list was that if you don't shoot stuff in a game, then it's not worth playing. Out of the huge laundry list of games he named for the PC and HD consoles, only two (LBP and NBA 09) aren't violent games.
Heck, if he wanted to name a list of promising violent Wii games in the remainder of '08, he could have said Tales of Symphonia, Deadly Creatures, Disaster, Call of Duty, Brothers in Arms: Double Time, Quantum of Solace, Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels, Rygar, and more. But, nope; I guess if a game doesn't render in 1080p and use a color palette that consists of, "5000 shades of brown," then it's not worth playing.
Way to go, Peckham, carving a bright, positive image for us gamers.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
