Sony recently said they can't produce enough PS3s to meet demand.  Considering that, it wouldn't make sense for them to have a price cut, why would they leave all that money on the table?

"Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer has told German news outlet Welt Online that he does not expect the R&D cash spend on PS3 to be recouped soon.

Stringer has mentioned that the consumers are purchasing PS3’s faster than Sony can produce them.

“Consumers are purchasing our PlayStation 3 video game consoles faster than we can produce them.”"

“We currently have a production bottleneck with the PlayStation 3″
