Intelligent Systems is my favourite branch of Nintendo, I love Advance Wars a lot. Though I'm really pissed with what they did with Days of Ruin, what a bad way to ruin (pun intended) the franchise. Still, it doesn't affect the fact that the first three were some of the best TBS ever created. MK GBA was good too.

You hated Days of Ruin just because the atmosphere was darker than previous games in the series?  That's just as stupid as people saying FFXII sucks just because it is very different from previous games in the series.

I haven't played many Intellegent Systems games but I had a great time with the ones I did play(i.e. FE7, PM:TTYD)

No. There wouldn't be any problem with the dark setting if the characters where somewhat memorable, but they weren't. They were plain and boring. Andy, Sami, Max, Eagle, Drake, Jess, Grit, etc. were interesting characters, I cared about them. This set was simply too uninteresting. But my biggest gripe lies in the changes to gameplay. All the COs are basically the same, they removed the CO power which I always found amazing, they added units that they shouldn't, removed a lot they should have kept and ultimately destroyed the perfect unit balance Dual Strike had. Heck, even the music was bad compared to the amazing character themes of the others

In my opinion, the story and characters of Days of Ruin were just as terrible as the story and characters of the previous three.

What I expect in Advance Wars though, is amazing gameplay. 1 and 2 had it. Dual Strike faltered, and Days of Ruin was amazing.

Also, IMO Dual Strike had the worst unit balance in the series...
