I'm not a fan of FPS games but I recently got into Halo 1 on my 360 and really, really, really enjoyed it.  It was linear which some people dislike, but for me a bonus.  Now, onto my question:

I didn't play MP1 or 2 on the Cube though I do have a cube.  I played Metroid on my DS and hated it.  Controls and shooting were not what I would call optimal.

What kind of game is Metroid, really?  Is it esentially a FPS?  Can you compare any or all of the Metroid Prime series 2 on cube and upcoming Wii with the Halo 1 style of gameplay?

I've avoided the Wii until now due to my disappointment with the graphics engine, but I'm looking at MP3 and thinking hmmmm....

I hate trolls.
