Even as a Sony Fan (not fanboy and hellfire/brimstone fall upon you if you label me otherwise :P) I do not forsee the 11mil mark being hit by the end of 2007. I'm thinking that the 9 mil number might be the more reasonable number unless Sony really starts to kick things off right with the new 80GB SKU.

As for the assumption that the PS3 "wont ever come back" if the XB360 sells really well this christmas I do not believe that will be the case either. Like the PS2 and PS1 before it the PS3 is trailing in the numbers from the start, but as history has said they have managed to play catch up pretty well in the end.

And yes it is price that holds back Sony, not demand. To say that people would not buy a PS3 if it was at a more reasonable price is ignorance. In fact, the price is the only thing holding back the PS3 if you really listen to the consumer.

"Man, the PS3 looks awesome and they have some cool games coming out, but I just cant throw down 600 dollars any time soon."

People, like myself, have held off on purchasing a next-gen system because they are so lavishly priced. Except for the Wii, but i hardly classify that as a next-gen console, and I have perfectly legitimate reasons for believing this.
