So, I bought a Wii (1 Wiimote + Nunchuck) for 250$ then got Wii Play + another Nunchuck (+70$). That is all the accessories I own for the system, and I own around 10 games. Yes, when Wii Sports Resort comes out I'll probably pick it up. I might even buy another WM+, but that'll depend on a number of things.

My point is, yes, it's expensive to own a Wii if you buy everything they released for it. But it would also be expensive to buy a 360 + HD-DVD drive + expanded hard drive + 4 controllers + rechargable battery attachments, or a PS3 + 7 dual shock 3s. You don't need it all!

HD-DVD drive, expanded hard drive, other optional attachments are not a requirement just to play games to the full potential.

Why would I ever need 7 dual shock controllers?  I wouldn't.   I'd need 4 tops, so need buy 3.   Once I buy them, that is it, nothing more ever needed.

With Wii it's buy 3 more wiimotes, then buy 3 more nunchucks, now buy 4 motion plus's, just to have 4 player on some games?   Considering how most PS3 games don't even have any use for more than two controls, I doubt most people will ever need buy more than one extra controller.

Considering that a majority of Wii games are based around 4 player fun, which tends to be the majority of the promo side of things, those extra controls really are a requirement.

People keep saying how the wii is so cheap, it really isn't, £180 for console, £90 for 3 extra wiimotes, £45 for nunchucks, let's say £10 for 4 WMPs (though probably be £15 knowing Nintendos prices on accesories), that's £355 pound, or £315 just to play a majority of games to full potential (majority don't need WMP).  Looking at a majority of PS3 games, £280 for console, £30 for extra controller, all that is needed £310.

When it comes to the requirements needed to play a majority of games fully, Wii is actually the most expensive.

I've had enough of Nintendo being rip off merchants, I know a lot of people have.   I like to play games to the full experience, if that full experience means paying for add-ons multiple times, I'll just skip the games entirely.

But see, you NEED 7 Dual Shock 3s, because the PS3 supports up to seven controllers, and apparently in the magical world you live in you have to own the maximum number of controllers that a system supports at all times.

Secondly, you won't need 4 WM+s. So far there are what, 2 games that support WM+? How many of them even have 4 player support confirmed?

Thirdly: I own 10 games. Most are single player, a couple are multiplayer, but whenever there's a party situation, we just pop in Wii Sports and can pass a single Wii Mote around the room. I am getting the maximum amount possible from all my games, and I've spent 300$ on Wii + Accessories.

Lastly, oh, man, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you're british. That sucks. In America we pay a crazy amount less than you for things. I see how it's more of an issue over there.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.
