Just got the red rings on a 6 month old 175w premium unit. :saddowns: Going to try the towel trick to get it working while they send the coffin.
edit: they don't send a box out anymore, and it takes 48 hours for shipping labels to show up??

My 3 month old Elite just puked today after having bought it to replace a chronic disc read erroring launch premium. So I called MS to get the elite sent in for repairs.
I pulled the hard drive out and put it into the old premium so I could at least enjoy some gaming, if not with constant disc read errors.
However, it seems in the elite's last gasp of breath, it decided to corrupt hundreds of hours of game saves. Is there any chance in hell of recovering the saves? I would give MS a call, but Im sure they wont give one fuck about all the data I just lost.

I had to send my system away, and so far all I have to say is that Microsoft is fucking inept and disorganized. I literally have two tracking numbers, one from Purolator and one from UPS...I only sent out one box.
Beyond that, I had the worst phone customer service I've had in years, resulting in a full hour long wait on the phone, where I never actually got any information from the guy I talked to, nor his supervisor, who I had to demand 4 times to talk to. The guy wouldnt transfer me?!

Blah, my brother's Elite just seem to blank out on us -- literally. The system doesn't display any video nor sound when you boot it up. All this after when we bought Too Human too. Luckily it's still under warranty and I was able to give that number posted in the op a call (thank god for agent). The phone call seemed pretty quick and easy. Now I have to wait for their email and ship it out via UPS tomorrow. The guy said it'll take 3-4 weeks, but I hope I get those turn around numbers that you guys previously posted.
I also asked about extending the warranty. He said after I received the system back I get a free 90 warranty extension. And if I still want to extend it, it would cost me $29.99 for 1 year or $59.99 for 2. Apparently you can keep extending it as long as you are still under warranty (outside of the whole RROD ordeal).
1st Elite lasted from the initial Elite launch up until the Halo 3 release.
2nd Elite lasted from the initial Halo launch up until the Too Human release.
3rd Elite soon to come. Hopefully it'll push more than a year this time around.

Never thought I'd be posting in this thread! Just bought a new 60 gig 360 today. The fan was making a horrible seizing noise right out of the box! Luckily I was able to return it and get a second one but wow. I never thought it would happen to me. It was kind of hilarious but at the same time sad because I had to drive to Futureshop again.

These are just posts that stated they were from Falcon or newer units, and just the posts from August 28-August 31st. So the problem is still huge with Falcon unit models and it would be stupid to assume it is not a problem with the newest models either until we go six months without seeing a very high rate of failures as we've been observing with the falcons.
