The problem is, not many of the games are going to be big sellers. It is a shame, but artistic style can actually restrict how much a game sells. Look at Okami, if it had realistic graphics I am sure it would have sold a lot better.

By the way, what game is the 3rd and 4th screenshot from? It looks fantastic.

Graphics whore.

Are you calling me a graphics whore? Didn't you read my post properly. Not once did I say that I prefer realistic graphics over artistic style. I even said that its a shame that artistic style can reduce the sales of a game. I also said that Kizuna looked fantastic. Not because of how graphically powerful it is (because it isn't), but because of the nice art direction.

My most anticipated titles for the rest of the year are, LBP, Valkyria Chronicles, Mirrors Edge and Prince of Persia. Each have a very individual and original art style. None of them are trying to be graphical masterpieces like Killzone 2 or MGS4.

You couldn't be more wrong by calling me a graphics whore.

Graphics whoring isn't about personal preference. It's about the belief that more detailed graphics are inherently better, and claiming a game would sell better due to more realistic graphics, without any proof, falls under that definition.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
