Becuase Tecmo were facing some troubles, and SE wanted to expand their fan base in the West. It's friendly though, not hostile.

Also, Itagaki left Tecmo.

Tecmo has pretty much shifted support to the Wii and hopefully the acquiration won't stop Tecmo from making more Wii games...
