It's simply about what you're used to playing with. If you've mostly played FPSs on the PC then you're bound to prefer that. I've played them mostly on consoles and I find a mouse and keyboard cumbersome and unintuitive. Which isn't much of a surprise since they're not designed for gaming. I've actually played RTSs more on the PC than on consoles and I would still maintain that there isn't any difference playing them on a console. It's an illusion. However, despite the fact that I think console gaming is superior, the existence of PC gaming doesn't affect me at all, so why should I want it to die? |
There is a pretty massive speed difference in FPS/RTS when comparing mouse/kb to gamepads. Take UT3 on PS3 for example. Even though the game is already slowed down (speed of the characters) compared to the PC version, people who use mice have a distinct advantage over those with the console controller. For example a person playing with a mouse can turn around with a flick of the mouse, while the person with a gamepad will take ages in comparison. That isn't even taking into account the higher accuracy and speed of aiming.
Same with RTS's, even one designed for consoles can't compare to the speed that hotkeys and a mouse offer PC players.
On the other side of the coin, some games control better with a gamepad. If I bought DMC4 on PC, I would want to play it with my DS3, and not my m/kb.
