The game's fanbase out numbers even Halo's with over 10million sold world wide. That game was a masterpiece and to bring it to the HD console would just have me jiz all over myself.
And there would be no way that game would come to Wii or 360, sony owns partial rights to the game. I believe Sony Published the game and Sony allowed it to go to PC and such through a special deal with Square. Sony also has a very good tie with Square and it's developers. The only person they would have make the game would be Tetsuya Nomura for he was part of the original cast and gave many of the plot ideas for the original game. Tetsuya love PS3, Hates 360, indifferent about Wii.
PS3 for the win!!!!! |
So much wrong.
Paragraph 1: wat. The PS1 was way ahead of the N64 before FF7 launched. Why do people not realize this? FF7 just made it a much better console...didn't put it in first place because it was already there.
As for the fan base, haha what? The game didn't break 10 million, and how do we know from that 10 million the people who disliked it or wouldn't buy a remake? Just because they bought it doesn't mean they like it. The fanbase is less than the supposed 10 million, and we all know SW sold a lot better on the PS1 than the PS3, so no, it wouldn't even get close to 10 million. FF XIII won't get close to 10 million on the PS3....and you expect a FF7 remake to?
Paragraph 2: Sony owns no rights to FF7. None at all. They published the game, doesn't mean they have the rights. That's like saying SE owns the rights to the KH series because they ublished it. Or MS owns the rights to Gears of War because they published it. And so on. Besides, FF7 characters have appeared on Nintendo systems before. See KH: CoM. Also, a remake would be different from the original game so the "rights" stuff is absolutely wrong.
As for Nomura, when did he say he hated the 360? Any evidence? Any at all? He hasn't even commented about it. He also never commented on the Wii. We don't know what he feels about them at all. He could really like them, he might dislike them, who knows. Point is he hasn't commented and we don't know for sure. Though if he was going to make a game exclusive to them I'd highly assume that he'd be enthusiastic about them.

Final Fantasy is to PS1 as Disney was to Blu Ray, the final straw to break the camels back. Once FFVII hit the PS1 there was no hope for NIN making ANY sort of comeback for 2 generations. This is the kind of power that FFVII held.

One of the many articles stating how Tetsuya favors the PS3....

Cant find the one where he says he does not like the 360's architecture, hate is an exageration, but he still does not like it. Wii he has given no real stance on, hence indifferent.
Never the less, you simply cannot ignore the success of this particular game. The game was loved by many, hated by few. You simply are one of those who dont like to appear as if they are conforming with the masses so they say they hate something or pretend as if it was the worst thing ever.
A Final Fantasy VII remake may not make 10mil but hey, if Halo can make 8mil as an exclusive why can't a game that has more background and fanbase do it?
