What minimum speed is recommended for online?

I have a 5 Mbps (700K) connection and I run in to lag every day. Not because of my connection. But because of clowns who want to play online while downloading porn. (not you rocketpig, you're not a clown )

Lag is connected to the speed of your opponent as much as to your own internet speed.
