The potential lay within the concept, but as with the other titles I mentioned Rare had a problem in over burdening the player with far too many objectives. There is a fine line between having fun and doing a chore. When you cross that line a fun idea becomes a tedious one. I really felt if Rare had streamlined the game more the core game could have been quite addictive. For me however it just came off as frustrating.
To me it was a thoroughly forgettable game, but it was a concept that was always appealing to me. I always wanted a game like Mega Man set in a 3D world. This just did not succeed in delivering that to me. Rare should revisit the concept, but should follow the KISS philosophy. For those who do not know that is keep it simple stupid. The more you throw on top of a core concept the more likely you are to go wrong, and put someone off. Keep the game manageable for the player.
I did not hate the game, but I sure as hell was not having fun playing the game. Which in the end is all that matters.
