"It's odd because everyone I have asked about it has prefered Mario Kart Wii over MK Double Dash, and most over MK64.... and yet the ratings on metacritic don't seem to reflect that."

You expect more out of a current gen game than what you got out of a last gen game. MKWii may have motion controls, but like most Madden games of recent years it really hasn't built upon the older games all that much. It's still a cartoony kart racer and it will never grow out of that mold.

That is true... but people generally give opinions based on the time they played it, which is why OoT is thought of higher than WW or TP even though both surpass OoT considerably.

"It's also odd that most people on here who own GTA4 seem to be of the opinion that it is inferior to either Vice City, San Andreas or just GTA3, and yet the reviews don't seem to reflect that either.

Similarly I can't say I have heard many people who actually own Mario Kart Wii complain about it, just 1 issue being the friend list restricted to 30 users (although you can have 4 friend lists) Wheras many people have been complaining about GTAIV, be it glitches or just generally being dull once the story is complete."

Here are the three main groups of people that have raised issues with GTA IV. 360 fans that didn't like the fact that critics were saying the PS3 version had better graphics, etc, so they decided to complain about the game and say it didn't deserve a 10, people that prefer fairy tales, and those that didn't like it because it didn't have the same "gangsta cool" as San Andreas and didn't like that it chose to concentrate on Eastern Europeans instead when that is actually a much more interesting story on an international level.

So now you are deciding peoples opinons for them... ok that's nice of you, but most of the people complaining about it didn't seem to be bothered about "gangster cool", neither was the split significantly in favour of X360 (obviously it was somewhat because it has sold more copies on X360)

I actually said what people were complaning about, which was it being dull, and *shock* more of the same, as if it never grew out of the GTA mold (and glitches being another complaint... mostly crashing PS3s early on, but those are fixed now I think) and yet you seem to have ignored what I said and invented your own reasons for complaints.
