The power of (my) nostalgia compels you! The power of (my) nostalgia compels you!

Ys is an old action/adventure game that's a bit hard to describe, and that sounds lame when told but which works well in practice. The newer games are a bit different, but in this one you control a swordsman in a 3/4 perspective, and you fight monsters. The twist is that you don't need to press a button to use your sword: you simply run into the enemy. Complicating mattters is that how you run into the enemy determines the outcome: if you run into it straight on and it is stronger than you, you take damage and it goes unscathed. If you hit it at a slight angle, you deal damage. The following shows what I mean.

Apart from that, it's a fairly straightforward game with some great boss fights. It also (and this cannot be emphasized enough) has some of the best music in video gaming, especially the Turbo-Grafx version. Long story short, you'll be paying 8 bucks for two great games and a legendary soundtrack. If it had cost twenty-plus I'd be more hesitant to recommend it to newcomers, as the series is not for everyone ("old school" is a decent description in some ways), but at this price I can confidently say that there's not much to lose.

It doesn't work! I am invisibile!! Muahahaha~!!

Ok, this sounds interesting so far, after buying Sin and Punishment there is 800 points left on my account.

Is there a better alternative RPG on the VC for 800 points? if not I might grab it.
