I think that is a very convenient argument that is well IMO, flawed. I'm just not sure where you got your statistics that show that every shooter fan who wants a 360 has one, where as every shooter fan who wants a PS3, does not have a PS3. I'd venture to guess you don't have statistics that prove that though, and that this is just your feeling of the market. I can understand that though, as sales prognostication, particularly on forums is really a "feel" art, however I respectfully disagree with that assumption and therefore do posit that Gears will move systems. To what extent, I'm unsure, but do expect there be a hardware spike when Gears 2 is released, particularly if there is hardware price reduction in place at that time. |
Actually, I didn't say anything about shooter fans and whether the PS3 is saturated.
My main point was that it will cause a temporary bump in h/w sales, but not long term. The pricecut will probably do more for that.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
