"If it can continue such sales 7-8 years after launch I see no reason why the Wii can't maintain decent sales 6 years after launch."
Yes, however, the difference between the Wii and PS2 in that regard is the much greater number of incredible games that the PS2 has had appear on it over its lifetime versus what will ever appear on the Wii. If you're the type of gamer that prefers 1 player cinematic gaming the most then the Playstation brand is your brand because of all of the rpgs and action adventure games that have appeared on the PS2 over the years. Like great novels and films the best of these games retain their appeal over time. As far as this generations rpgs go, so far, most of the best ones have been on the 360. While the best action adventure games Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4, ICO Project, Heavy Rain, Siren: Blood Curse, and GTA IV have appeared or are going to appear on PS3.
The Wii has its niche -- Wii Sports, Wii Fit, etc. But after seeing superior looking rpgs and action adventure games on the 360 and PS3 are people going to want to go back and play the same types of games on the Wii when they will not have the graphics, etc, which usually make these games shine and that won't look anywhere near as good as the hd versions? The PS2 had series like the GTAs, FF, God of War, and MGS which were picked up by people over the course of its lifetime very frequently as often in its first years as in its latter years, but the Wii will have far less of these types of games. MGS 4, FFXIII, and GTA already coming to the hd consoles but not scheduled to appear on Wii. And third party Wii games are not in the same league of quality as their HD and PC counterparts.
My most anticipated games: Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort. Cave Story Wiiware.
