LBP is the exact opposite of what MGS4 is. People said MGS4 wouldn't sell because it's hardcore, it has lots of cutscenes, and it's a niche genre. I disagree with 2 out of 3 of those and absolutely love the cutscenes, but those were the reasons given. LBP is casual, has no cutscenes, allows hardcore users to play whatever kind of level they want, has graphics that seem to appeal to everyone, a completely new youtube-like level distribution for consoles, and the push from Sony at every turn, from ads (also featuring MGS4 and GT5 if you want to compare the company it's keeping) to E3 press conference to getting their developers to contribue to the game. The greatest appeal is that LBP can be whatever people want it to be. New features keep being announced, as you can see by this thread that indicates that syncing voice to character lip movements is implemented. That's really cool and just shows all the nice touches that are being put into this game. I understand there will always be people that dislike something, whatever it is, but it's just hard for me to believe that most people won't be excited by this game. Edit: Also, I don't think anyone is predicting that LBP will outsell one of the highest selling franchises ever, but it does benefit PS3-specific sales in comparison to GTA IV that LBP isn't multiplatform. For PS3, the sales could be close, who knows. But that doesn't even matter right now. I just want to play the game. |
I'm not bashing the attributes. First of all i am confused about the game....seriously. I know this games demo will be at Gamestop on the first day for sure. Second of all we will just have to see about the sales. If Sony wants a big deal out of this game, they should make the game an attachment to the new PS3 instead of Uncharted (Stupid Sony). I know that Uncharted was said to be a great game, but LBP needs some practical love right now instead of risky love.
