I won't pass judgment yet cause there's still time until the release, but I am skeptical of its usefulness. For example, let's say you are 10 feet away from your tv and the wii speak is 5 feet away from you, won't the wii speak be feeding not just your own voice, but the sounds of everything around you, including your tv? Since the mic won't have any one dominate audio source, ambient noise could proof to be a major issue. Also, what if your wii is in a bedroom and not an open area with a table where the wii speak can sit? What if you don't want others in the room/household to hear what other gamers are saying? I think wii speak is a neat idea and good for family activities and the like, but a head set option would also be preferred for core gamers looking to play a game like medal of honor where online gamers tend to be more.... vulgar. |
Wiispeak sits on top of the sensor bar and the sound from the TV will not effect it because of noise filtering. However if someone comes in your room and starts talking or a phone rings, the mic will pick that up.
