Something on the order of a 20 Mhz processor and 2 MB of memory maybe include a 256 or 512 Mb internal flash drive and sell it for $50. Sell games on small SD cards (or a proprietary equivalent) in store and have a digital distribution model like the virtual console. Make the games $5-8 a piece and make new 2D sonic and other games of that type. Nintendo has done a lot with the wii in this direction but if there was a dedicated old school console I think it might succeed. In the current ultra expensive gaming climate of $400 systems and $60 games it might be interesting to have a new cheap console. We are already seeing this with games like Megaman 9 and dedicated consoles like the Atari Flashback maybe this needs to be taken a step farther. |
50$ for the Unit. 5-8 dollar games? If the games are good I would buy that in a heart beat. 2D has been fun in the past. It's never to late to enjoy a 2D game no matter how good graphics are Getting.
