"Nintendo will dominate next generation just by based on the success of DS and Wii. Every console will try to annihilate the market of these two, but the third parties will choose the Nintendo platforms (of course, every console will get 3rd party support, but majority will go to Nintendo). And there is no such market split as you are saying. The most dominant console will get the most gamers (surprise) and the most games - despite the genre.

BTW, DS is based on the same tech as PSP and Wii bases on the same as PS360. They just have different focus on using the tech." bdbdbd

People thougth this generation would be ps3 gen, they got wrong. There´s no garanties. Each gen future depends on the market mood. Look at n64, great console, great library, came after a big hit, but lost the leadership to ps1.
And I didn´t say the market would split, I said I hope it will, just like this gen. The top 20 of wii ALMOST don´t have multiplats, and the multiplats have a smaller atach rate than ps360, meaning that the wii owners are interested in other kind of games than the ps360 ones. At least the majority.

And if the tecnology is the same, why wouldn´t they produce a powerful console, in order to get both the hardcores and casual, like ps2 did? If it is as powerful, why it´s not advertised and exposed in the big game events?
I´ve played my cousins ds, a fligth combat one, and it looked as a well produced pc game from the mid 90´s, but the psp I played in a store looked like a ps1.

The thing is, you a missing my complaint: the fear of a era dominated by games that come near the excelency of gta or mgs, only because the machines in the future won´t be able to handle them, they won´t be powerful enough, cause that won´t make profit.
Of course, we got the pc, but it´s slowly being forgotten as a plataform. Although everybody that is on the console potencial market has a computer, all the attention is targeted too the new gen. I´m a pc gamer to the bones and I´m hooked to consoles. So we can´t trust in it as a escape rout. But lets be optimist( and i´m usually not) and wait to the next gen.
BTW, hardcore, in my conception, is a game that takes time and patient too complete, as it´s complicated and detailed, while a casual is a game that you can peak, play a while and then drop it, whitout too much commitment. Like solitaire, guitar hero( it can be difficult and has a campaing mode, but can be played casually and a lot of people do just that), ds dogs and others. I started playing civ 1 in my first pc. Always liked strategy games, hardcore by nature, but like casual too, just not all the time.
