While it use to be one of Sony's biggest selling points, they're actually abandoning BC completely.
Also, wasn't the GBA out before the PS2? I wouldn't really count the GBC because I'm pretty sure those games still worked on the original GB (could be wrong there) and they used the same cartidge. The GBA changed cartridges and made a siginifically more powerful system that could still play all the earlier games.
