The only fighting chance HD-DVD would've had was if Microsoft had included it in the 360, thusly jacking its price up to obscene levels.

Sony brand is still strong in consumers eyes, just simply expensive at the moment. I know people who keep saying, "Once it's *insert price of your liking here* I'll get one" and they mean it. Hell, I mean it, too.

DVD is here to stay though. The jump from VHS to DVD was huge. No more rewinding. No degrading of picture over time. Less physical space taken up. Menus, scene selections, extras, cut scenes, commentary. Playable on Computers and laptops with DVD drives.

The jump from DVD to High-Def formats is ..... visual/audio boost and ... a price boost (not to mention equipment needed to take advantage of said boost). Eh?

I see why the adoption rate is so low for both Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
