1) Half-truth but still, look at the number of games that do not use the feature. You cannot tell me it is being used like thee other two systems. It just is not. That was my point at any rate. Developers will make a request all the time, that does not mean they are making a serious request. At one point (not too long ago), they would find ANY reason to knock Wii and the success. They were willing to call it anything but a gaming machine ect. I could take nothing said by a developer seriously, or everything said by a developer seriously. It just depends on the mood of the gamer. You seem to take their marketing not as seriously. Lastly, you are now retreading. You say, lets not buy into Conduit's marketing and so on, but then go on to hype MadWorld -and blindly- and that was my major issue with your post. If you dislike the game, fine, but do not sit here and try to tell people they should hype another game INSTEAD of this game. There is room for both games to get hype and hopefully big sales. 2) I understand that, but here you are, in this topic hyping MadWorld at thee expense of another game. You have to understand, as a fan of both games, I am looking at your post with a puzzled look on my face. Lets not hype Conduit, lets not buy it immediately because of this hype, but lets hype MadWorld and lets imply that this topic would somehow be more appropriate if it were about that game instead. Simple hypocrisy. Both developers are working pretty hard (from thee onset) and both games are looking deserving of my money. 3) Exactly. But does that mean we should not be excited about Conduit? No. Does that mean we should not purchase it? Definitely not. It means both games should have room in any gamers library. Not one at thee expense of thee other. 4) I am in no way saying one game is better than thee other. That is all I am getting at. I have yet to play either. Excuse me if I believe that both games can get love. At first, it seemed you thought Conduit is undeserving of the hype it is getting. If you think so, then so be it, but do not sit here and tell us that MadWorld is deserving of hype when it has basically shown us nothing so far and is being judged upon its look. Both games look great and one should not be hyped at thee expense of thee other. We should be excited Wii is getting this kind of support in general. Which most of us are. But as far as I am concerned, you were being too harsh on Conduit. |
You're really giving me the impression that you don't know what this topic is about. It's not about blindly hyping a title. I already stated that is fine to do. That has nothing to do with the OP. Absolutely nothing. Re-read the OP and then see how far off track you and I are going with what was intended from this topic. In fact, here it is reprinted:
I was reading the wikipedia article about The Conduit and I find out that the game features not only 16 players online but also wiispeak.I don't know but I feel that all nintendo hardcore fans should buy this game not only for support in the future from other third parties since if it sells well people will change their perspective about M rated games for the wii(1).But also since I feel high voltage is the only developer that is trying hard to do something unique for the wii.(2)Everything else is not apart from zack and wiki and no more heroes(those sold decently :( .I hope the conduit sells really well so that the hard work the high voltage is putting pays off.It would be a shame if it bombs :/
Now I'll name off my problems with the OP and how I personally got this point in the argument:
1. All Nintendo fans should buy this game just to support future third party games? Nothing about that statement says, "Buy it because it looks great and looks like it plays great!".
2. High Voltage is the ONLY developer trying hard to do something unique for the Wii? Really? How do you not see where MadWorld fits into that? I named how unique I felt MadWorld is and how not unique The Conduit seems.
Name me one time in the OP where it's stated we should buy The Conduit because of it's quality as a game. Huh? It's not there you say? Precisely.
My intention is not to bash The Conduit as a game. I haven't played it and I don't know how good or bad it is. What I do know from previews is that it's pretty run of the mill currently outside of the fact that it will have awesome Wii controls. Why does it have awesome Wii controls? Simple. Nintendo laid the blueprints down for FPS controls with Metroid Prime 3. The Conduit is an evolution of what Nintendo revolutionized.
The Conduit isn't offering anything another game could not duplicate and improve upon greatly next year and into the future. It is basically the first FPS on the Wii with standard features you would find on any FPS game coming to the PS3, 360 or the PC. Big fish, small pond. Add some more fish into that pond, which is inevitable, and somebody's going to understand how easily they can make another Conduit but add in that great story like Bioshock, that robust online multiplayer like COD4 or that amazing co-op like Halo 3 and Resistance 2(fingers crossed). This is why I feel The Conduit is basically a prince among Wii games and a pauper amongst first person shooters.
Try to apply any of that to MadWorld and you may begin to see why I made the comparison.
