How to make a shooter non-generic:
Include all the basic elements of your typical shooter and make good use of the Wii remote. Done.
This is obviously a limited time offer. When third parties start dumping 360-like numbers of shooters on the Wii with controls yanked from Metroid Prime 3, all of us jaded gamers will start yawning at each new one announced. But until then, this game will kick the ass of Halo, Resistance, or Call of Duty simply because it won't rely on crippled thumbsticks for aiming.
The biggest problem for Conduit is that CoD: World at War might beat it to the punch while delivering better multiplayer features. But we haven't seen any good gameplay videos of CoD on Wii, nor have we seen any giddily excited previewers bubbling about how much fun it is, like we have with Conduit. Furthermore, CoD bears the lodestone of WWII around its neck, which turns so many people off instantly. And I know that if they use CoD4's leveling system, I'll be completely turned off online. The feature might as well not exist for me.
So tell me, if Wii owners shouldn't be excited about Conduit, which FPS should we be excited about? CoD:WaW about which we've seen little or Red Steel 2 about which we've seen nothing?

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event." — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing
