They would track these games it they charted.

It's entirely possible that those games could chart, if still available new @ retailers. If not, they'd be kinda screwed.

Dead Rising for X360 is a good example. DR took advantage of Trusty Bell week for the X360, and dropped it's Best Price/Platinum edition that week. The result? 5,000 units sold that week, and has garnered ~ 10k units since then. Likewise, Blue Dragon got a big boost for a full-priced game, and sold around 5k units since TB launched.

So it's entirely possible that games like Gundam Mousou and HSG5 could chart in the top 50 (but not much more), when new uber-games come out.

This week will be real telling - lets see how Gundam Mousou does if HSG5 moves alot (40k) of PS3s. It could see ~5k this week. Certainly not bad for a game that sells ~1.5k a week now.
