A solid soft line up helps naturally, and the PS3 library continues to add more worthwhile titles (sum total of the parts rather than individual big hits), but in order for Sony to significantly and permanently step up further towards mass market adoption in NA, they MUST lower the entry price to $299 or less.
It seems highly unlikely we'll be seeing this in 2008, seeing as how Sony is finally starting to eke out profits from their gaming division following quarter after quarter of consistent big losses.
Unless they start making PS3s out of styrofoam and cardboard, I just don't see them being able to reduce production costs quite that fast until the smaller chipsets are ready for production some time in 2009.
But the PS3 will not see that permanent jump in sales regardless of how favorable the general public sees the game library until the price becomes more accessible.
