As mentioned, Saturn outsold N64 in Japan. As for the others, none of them really ended up competing, so I guess we can let those go, but this thread still fails pretty badly.
Super Famicom/Mega Drive/PC Engine would be a better gen to compare this one to. Nintendo/Sega/NEC all show that it's not a zero end game. More than one console can be successful at once, especially as the market gets larger each gen.
At the end of this gen PS3 should still end up as the fourth highest selling home console of all time, and 360 should be right up there too.
