Reading comprehension is a lost art. Um companies usually make profit from software. Thats why Sony is copying the Nintendo strategy of 1st party which is why Nintendo has profited from every console they've created. Because 30 million+ people like rehashes of Zelda and Mario.
Its easy to bleak about Sony's future. They were #1 everyone wants them to fail. So if the Wii's userbase is senior citizens and non gamers and the Xbox has a paltry 20 million after 3 years what does that tell you? That people are riding out the world wide economic stall untill prices drop, please see Japan and the boom of cheap portables to combat insane cost of living expenses. (Which has gotten so bad that many Japanese aren't having children.) And who will be there waiting for them? The Xbox 720 with complete digital distribution for $500 or the PS3 with hundreds of games for a cool $250. And people thought a 10 year life cycle was stupid.
