Corrected Stats using exclusively NPD data for consistency:

General Info:

8.08m PS2 owners have a Wii or about 70.88% of Wii owners.
7.66m PS2 owners have a 360 or about 71.59% of 360 owners.
4.26m PS2 owners have a PS3 or about 83.53% of PS3 owners.

The Wii accounts for 40.40% of upgrades*.
The 360 accounts for 38.30% of upgrades*.
The PS3 accounts for 21.30% of upgrades*.

*Where an "upgrade" is a console hardware purchase made by an existing PS2 owner.

NPD Marketshare:

Wii: ~11.4 million - 41.91%
360: ~10.7 million - 39.34%
PS3: ~5.1 million - 18.75%

PS2 Upgrade Market Share:

Wii: 8.08 million - 40.40%
360: 7.66 million - 38.30%

PS3: 4.26 million - 21.30%

I get almost the same data

Taking NPD's figures:

41,120,000

+
January 264K
February 281K
March 216K
April 124K
May 133K
June 189K
July 156K

= ~42,483,000

~71.5% of 360 owners also own a PS2.
~69.0% of Wii owners also own a PS2.
~83,3% of PS3 owners also own a PS2.

Now it would be interesting to know what percentage of GameCube owners also own a Wii and what percentage of XBox owners also own a 360. Or IMO better even what percentage of all past owners (considering for instance the Wii is backwards compatible with the GameCube).

PS2 owners are:

~3.60% less likely to buy a Wii than the average consumer
~2.64% less likely to buy a 360 than the average consumer
~13.60% more likely to buy a PS3 than the average consumer

This I don't agree with, those PS2 owners who also owned a GameCube or XBox next to a PS2 have likely already upgraded towards a 360 or Wii due to reasons I mentioned earlier and are IMO far more likely to do so than those who didn't own a GameCube or XBox in the past next to a PS2.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."
