Why did you put MMO's on that list? Things like FFXI and Age of Conan are completely different beasts.

I pretty much put in anything with an RPG tag line in it. Action RPGs, Strategy RPGs, Stealth RPGs, JRPGs, MMORPGs, etc.

They all hold the name so they deserve to be listed.

Although I was a bit split on putting in games that already existed in last gen that are just ports (FFXI, Phantasy Star Universe). It seems a bit unfair to have those kind of games in there.

I think it's alright to make it fairly broad and say things like Oblivion and FFXIII can be on the same list but MMO's just appeal to a completely different crowd.  If I was looking to buy a console based on its RPG's I wouldn't give two craps about DC Universe Online.

As for counting things like Phantasy Star and FFXI (assuming we want to count that :P) I think it's alright since it appears on that system.  They're older games but the 360 is the older system.

MMORPGs are rightfully from the RPG genre. It's interesting how you approve Oblivion is an RPG, after that game being coined as a single-player MMORPG by some, due to several designs that are similar to MMORPGs.

What things define RPG's?

If we go by the literal definition where it's the player takes on the role of a character, then we might as well just go by how many games are on those systems.

If we say it has to do with the deep complicated story and the character development then again, we might as well go by how many games are on the system.

If we say leveling up, what about games that keep track and improve stats?  GTA: San Andreas I believe has stats that apparently level up as you progress so is it an RPG?

So how do we define the RPG?  It's one of those things I think is really hard and you just have to draw the line at some games.  All MMO's are not RPG's and I wouldn't even consider any recent MMORPG as an RPG.  If WoW was a single player game would you consider it an RPG?  Why?
