The Dark Knight Video Game — Why it HAS to be Good

The Dark Knight is definitely the biggest hit of this year, and probably the biggest hit since Titanic back in 1997. As with blockbuster movies like these, people always ask: “Where’s the video game?” (Although I was surprised the game wasn’t release before, or soon after, the movie was released) With these questions come the rumors that the game is in the works, and speculation on the gameplay and whether it will, or will not, be a “good” game.

It is a fact (pretty much) that all movie games blow chunks with a few exceptions. I, for one, am tired of all these mediocre cookie-cutter movie games coming from developers. This problem usually arises from publishers bidding for the game license and then throwing it into rapid production — leaving gamers with giant pieces of shit (excuse my french) that people still buy for some reason. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I demand that one of the best movies of this decade is accompanied by one of the best video games of the decade.

Maybe if the video game industry finally delivers a good movie-game, Hollywood will return us the favor and give us a good movie based on a video game. I don’t care how long the game takes, but I would rather have a perfect game that takes 1 or 2 years in total to develop than some crappy game that takes 9 months and barely gets a 7/10 in the majority of the game reviews.

The Dark Knight Video Game is said to be coming out around the same time the Blu-ray and DVD versions of the movie come out on December 9, 2008.
