GC controller works best for SSBB but I found playing it with just the Wiimote + nunchuck works.

For Wii Sports, all u need is 1 extra nunchuck for boxing so You could get 3 Wiimotes + 1 nunchuck and be fine. Or Get Wii Play + 2 Wiimotes + 1 nunchuk.

I havent played SMG but for co-op, I think its the same thing. 2 sets of Wiimotes + nunchuk (so just 2 nunchuks!!!)

Zelda is a 1 player game, so just 1 wiimote and nunchuck

Metroid i believe is 1 player so same thing, 1 wiimote and nunchuck.

May I recommend Mario Kart Wii? All u need for that game is 4 Wiimotes.

So my final advice: You can get through alot with 3 Wiimotes + 1 nunchuk. So thats $140. If u get Wii Play its $150 since it comes with a Wiimote. So in total w/o games its $400 + tax for the controllers and Wii system. For the games you;ve mentioned, you could get them used and save some money. All up to you. Maybe you could get some used accessories but thats up to u.
