Being a shareholder really has no bearing on what console an individual buys or prefers. Not if you're an investor (using your head), rather than a fan of a company and its products (going off emotion), which is one the worst reasons to invest in a company rather than taking close examination of the company's underlying financials.
The only video game related stock I currently have in my portfolio is NTDOY, but by no means is the Wii my favorite console. But the facts are, Nintendo is performing better than any other game related company currently, making it an easy choice to invest in.
But I have to agree; buying a console because you heard or you think it's selling better than the competition has got to be one of the dumbest reasons I've heard for picking a platform.
Unless you like the game line up and platform features more than the competition, you're really setting yourself up for potential disappointment.
