Showertea said: Nintendo consoles are selling well because 1: They have the games the european audiences want to buy. For the week ending the 9th, only 2 of the top 20 game sales weren't on nintendo consoles, and they were both Soul Calibur 4. European people are crazy for Mario Kart Wii for some reason, and Wii Fit, both selling over 2 million in Others alone and they're still in the top 5 games.
2: They're actually getting enough supply. Right now the cheapest you can get a Wii on amazon.com is 300$, and that's for a used one. OTOH, in europe they're selling for their MSRP, which to me shows they are getting enough supply.
3: A lack of big games for any console. This benefits the Wii, as the Wii doesn't need the boost from a AAA game to sell like crazy.
On a side note, when I was checking the price on the wii in the UK/Europe I found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Wii-Console-Sports/dp/B0007UATDG . Wii: Originally 179.99 Pounds, now discounted to 179.98! What a deal! |
Sarcasm?.... MKWii is the business, it's THE game to own.
@ No.2... yep, the Wii has good supply here, Wii Fit is a little on the low side (and was much worse) and MKWii was hard to find for a bit, apparently especially so in the Netherlands.
MKWii is a AAA game (although I don't like that term) as is Wii Fit (biggest marketing budget for Nintendo ever) and Brawl.
The thing with Wii is that hyped games appeal is not so short lived, people have mostly forgotten about GTAIV now but a good number of 1st party (and the odd 3rd party like Guitar Hero and M&S) Wii titles are, and still will be selling like crazy for another year or two.
