Aside from that, I STILL don't get how you can increase the market share, when you sell less than the opposition (meaning that you lose ground no matter what).  Even with roundings this shouldn't make sense.

 

 Example:

Wii has sold 50 units. It has 29.5% market share

Ps3 has sold 20 units. It has 11.8%

X360 has sold 100 units. It has 58.8%

 

Wii sells 30 units the next month. 33% MS this month. 

Ps3 sells 20 units the next month 22% MS this month

X360 sells 40 units the next month. 45% MS this month. 

 

Despite X360 selling most, in front of Wii, Ps3 gained the most market share. X360 lost market share.

 

The new market share is:

Wii 80 units - 30.7% A gain of 1.5%

Ps3 40 units - 15.3% - A gain of 3.5%

X360 140 units - 53.8%. A loss of 5%

 

So despite having the lowest MS for the week, Ps3 gained the most by far. X360 had the highest, but lost.
