My 60GB PS3 get really hot but the fans never kick on except for one time my wife left it on all night / day because she didn't know PS3 have to be manually turn off since it has blue-tooth and thus can't be control by Harmony.
PS3 do run a lot hotter and eat up a lot of wattage, I never have folding at home running for this reason alone. My 360 always run cool but the fans is loud and annoying, since I have my PS3, most of my movies watching is on the PS3.
