if upgrading teh cpu and gpu breaks backwards compatibility then every time a new pc comes out old games shouldnt be able to be played on them. but that isnt the case. back int eh day of the snes aka superfamicon the superfamicon was backwards compatible with famicon games. but when they developed the snes version of it they made sure it wasnt backwards compatible to sales more games and have higher sales for the hardware as well so since this whole achitectur thing breaks backward capabilities then why does the ps3 have backwards capability unless it uses that 256mhz processor which i really really really doubt.
